Privacy
DepthTick privacy policy.
DepthTick is a desktop clock widget for Windows. This policy explains what the app accesses, how that information is used and stored, and the choices available to you.

Screen and wallpaper access
DepthTick reads your current wallpaper and captures desktop imagery to create its glass, blur, refraction and depth effects, and to keep those effects aligned with your background. Depending on the wallpaper and desktop content, this imagery may contain personal information.
Image processing happens locally on your device. DepthTick does not upload captured imagery or wallpaper images to the developer or an external image-processing service, and does not save screen captures as video recordings.
DepthTick may request Windows permission to hide the capture border, shown as a yellow outline around the screen. This changes the visibility of the indicator; it does not enable uploading or video recording. You may decline this optional permission.
Local data and security
DepthTick stores information on your device to remember preferences and avoid repeating image processing. This may include:
- Clock appearance, font, size, colors, effects and position.
- Depth-effect settings and permission-prompt preferences.
- Cached wallpaper reference images and generated depth masks.
- Wallpaper file paths, monitor identifiers, calibration and cache-validation information.
Files are stored in Windows application-data locations. Their exact location may differ between Microsoft Store and unpackaged installations. They are not automatically sent to the developer.
Local files are protected by your device's Windows access controls. DepthTick does not add separate encryption to settings or image caches. Anyone who already has access to these files through your Windows account may be able to read them.
Local image processing
The components used to analyze wallpaper and create depth effects run on your device. Your wallpapers and captured imagery are not submitted to an online AI service or used by the developer to train models.
DepthTick does not require a separate DepthTick account, include advertising, or automatically send app-usage analytics to a tracking service operated by the developer.
Microsoft services
DepthTick uses Microsoft Store services for purchase and license verification. It receives the license information needed to determine whether the app has been purchased. It does not receive your payment-card details or Microsoft account password.
Windows and Microsoft Store may independently collect diagnostics or make Store analytics and crash information available to the developer, depending on Microsoft's services and your settings. Microsoft handles this information under its Privacy Statement.
Windows backup or synchronization features may copy eligible application data according to your Windows settings. DepthTick does not independently upload its local settings or wallpaper caches.
Diagnostics and support
Detailed capture diagnostic logging and raw image-analysis debug exports are disabled in the standard release. Optional troubleshooting modes can create local logs when explicitly enabled; they do not automatically send those files to the developer.
The website's support form is provided by Tally. When you submit a request, the developer receives the request type, summary and details you enter, plus any versions, email address and attachments you choose to provide. Email and attachments are optional. This information is used to respond, investigate problems and review feedback, not for marketing.
Support requests and uploaded files are stored and processed through Tally on the developer's behalf. Tally also uses service providers to operate its forms and file storage. See Tally's Privacy Notice and data-processing information for its practices. Enabling email notifications may also send request information to the developer's email provider.
Diagnostic files can contain file paths, monitor information, hardware details and other setup information. Review anything you choose to share and remove sensitive content first. The app does not automatically submit a bug report or upload attachments.
Website visits
The developer has not added advertising, website analytics scripts or embedded tracking videos. The support page loads Tally's embedded form. Loading or interacting with it connects your browser to Tally and its service providers, which may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details under their own privacy practices. Other pages do not load the Tally form.
Opening an external link, such as the Microsoft Store, the standalone Tally form or a provider's privacy statement, takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.
When you visit the website, its hosting provider may receive technical connection information, such as an IP address, browser information and the requested page, to deliver and protect the website. For a deployment hosted by Google Firebase, the provider's practices are described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Retention and your controls
Settings and cached files may remain on your device until they are replaced, cleaned up or deleted. Uninstalling DepthTick may not remove every local file or backup.
You can change effect settings, decline the optional border-hiding permission, or exit DepthTick to stop its capture and processing activity. Turning off Depth Effect alone does not necessarily stop capture used by other visual effects.
Exit DepthTick before deleting its local application-data files. Deleting settings resets your preferences; deleting caches may require depth effects to be generated again. Removing local files does not remove copies held in a Windows backup.
Information voluntarily provided for support is kept only as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain relevant support records and meet applicable legal obligations.
Privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights concerning personal information held by the developer, including access, correction or deletion. These rights concern information actually received by the developer; local wallpaper and settings files are not remotely accessible to the developer.
For a privacy question or a request about information submitted for support, choose "Ask a question" in the support form. Include enough information to identify the request and a reply address if you need a response. Do not include passwords, identity documents or other unnecessary sensitive information.
You control data stored only on your device. For information held by Microsoft or your website hosting provider, use the privacy controls and request channels described in that provider's policy.
Changes and developer details
This policy may be updated when DepthTick's functionality or data practices change. The current version is published on this page with its revision date.
